D-Day: July 20

A MOMENTOUS DAY!

Paul's dissertation was officially turned in yesterday and there was so much love and joy in the air.  I think it reached 70 degrees yesterday solely because of Paul's superhumanly good mood.

And, because it was such a momentous day, there were more than a few things to do to celebrate...

There were congratulatory balloons!
There was congratulatory cherry pie!

(It was a beautiful cherry pie)
And, the most momentous congratulatory event of all.... except for the purchasing of "The Emperor's New Groove," ice cream, and some fancy congratulatory chocolates...which I didn't take pictures of...but I digress...

LIKE I was saying...  THE most MOMENTOUS congratulatory event OF ALL TIME...

We said goodbye to the Dissertation Beard.  (That's two months in the growing, my friends)
But, before he shaved it off, we had to have some fun seeing how many combs we could hide in his head hair
And the beard too... (That beard.  It was amazing.  Thick, curly, and red)

And then, after a half an hour of hacking...

His head was half its former size and five years of stress were gone.

I think he should grow a two month beard every summer and shave it off every July 20 in remembrance of the day he was emancipated from graduate school (practically...I mean...there is still that pesky defense thing...but...he just is not going to think about that right now.)

HAPPY DISSERTATION DAY TO ALL, AND TO ALL, A GOOD NIGHT!

  1. Congratulations, Paul! I confess I was getting worried that Heidi had mistakenly been carried off by one of the Pontipee boys. Come to think of it, Paul does look a bit like Gideon, or maybe Frankincense.

  3. That beard was epic. I shall mourn its passing.

But congrats to Paul on being done with grad studies! Huzzah!
